Cisco ONS-QC-16GFC-LW=
4×16G Fibre Channel QSFP+ Module

A single-mode, long-wavelength QSFP+ transceiver that packs four independent 16G/8G Fibre Channel lanes into one hot-pluggable module — built for long-haul SAN extension over Cisco NCS 2000-series optical platforms.

Overview

The ONS-QC-16GFC-LW= is a Cisco QSFP+ pluggable built specifically for optical transport of Fibre Channel SAN traffic. Rather than one high-speed lane, it carries four independent 16G (or 8G, auto-negotiated) Fibre Channel channels over a single long-wavelength, single-mode fiber pair — making it a common choice on Cisco NCS 2000 muxponder and transponder line cards for data-center-interconnect and SAN extension deployments.

4-lane FC aggregation

Four independent 16G/8G Fibre Channel channels multiplexed through one QSFP+ cage — fewer slots, fewer cables.

Long-wave single-mode

1310 nm long-wavelength optics on single-mode fiber for extended reach between SAN sites and data centers.

MSA-compliant, hot-swappable

Standard QSFP+ mechanical and electrical interface (SFF-8636) for tool-free insertion and removal.

Built-in diagnostics

Digital Optical Monitoring reports real-time temperature, voltage, bias current, and per-lane optical power.

Where it fits

Typical deployment scenarios for a 4-lane single-mode long-wave FC QSFP+.

SAN EXTENSION

Cross-site storage replication

Extend Fibre Channel SANs between primary and DR data centers over metro or long-haul dark fiber.

DCI

Data-center interconnect

Aggregate FC traffic onto Cisco NCS 2000 muxponders alongside other services on a shared optical layer.

CONSOLIDATION

Port & slot consolidation

Replace four separate SFP+ FC ports with a single QSFP+ cage, freeing chassis density for growth.
