Juniper Networks BNDL 2X MPC10E-15C-P-BASE W/ 3X SCBE3
MPC10E-15C-P-BASE
+ 3× SCBE3-MX bundled and slot-ready.
A complete high-density forwarding upgrade for MX240, MX480, and MX960 chassis: one 15-port Trio 5 line card paired with three Enhanced Switch Control Boards, ordered under a single line item.
Built for the 400GbE transition, without forcing a chassis swap.
The MPC10E-15C-P-BASE is a Modular Port Concentrator for the MX240, MX480, and MX960 5G Universal Routing Platforms, combining base hardware with a standard Junos software license under a perpetual entitlement. It carries twelve QSFP28 multirate ports and three QSFP56-DD multirate ports on a single half-height line card, giving operators a mixed 10/40/100GbE edge alongside forward-compatible 400GbE uplinks on the same slot.
This bundle, ordered as MPC10E-15C-3SCBE3, pairs one MPC10E-15C-P-BASE with three SCBE3-MX Enhanced Switch Control Boards — the fabric generation required to unlock the card’s full 1.5 Tbps line rate on chassis fitted with the enhanced midplane.
What’s in the bundle
- 1× MPC10E-15C-P-BASE line card (base hardware + standard Junos, perpetual)
- 3× SCBE3-MX Enhanced Switch Control Boards
- Front-to-back airflow, half-height MPC slot form factor
- Trio 5 silicon across three onboard Packet Forwarding Engines
Typical deployment fit
- Service provider edge and core aggregation refreshes
- 100GbE-dense enterprise WAN edge with a 400GbE growth path
- Chassis needing full fabric redundancy ahead of MPC10E scale-out
- Standard-Junos deployments not yet requiring advanced/premium scale licenses

Why the bundle ships with three SCBE3-MX boards
Reaching the MPC10E-15C’s full 1.5 Tbps ceiling depends on how many SCBE3-MX boards are installed and how the chassis fabric redundancy is configured — the line card and the switch board scale together.
| Chassis | SCBE3-MX slots | Fabric planes | Full redundancy |
|---|---|---|---|
| MX960 | Up to 3 (vertical) | 6 planes (2 per board) | 3 boards for 2+1 redundancy and full bandwidth |
| MX480 / MX240 | Up to 2 (horizontal) | 6 planes total (2 + 4 split across slot 0/1) | 2 boards for 1+1 redundancy |
In a non-redundant configuration with all six fabric planes active, the SCBE3-MX supports the MPC10E line card’s 1.5 Tbps per-slot ceiling; redundant configurations are rated at up to 1 Tbps per slot. Plan spare capacity accordingly if fabric redundancy is a hard requirement for the deployment.
Chassis fit and upgrade paths
| Chassis | Standard midplane | Enhanced midplane | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| MX960 | 800 Gbps | 1.5 Tbps | 3× SCBE3-MX for full fabric bandwidth |
| MX480 | 800 Gbps | 1.5 Tbps | 2× SCBE3-MX for 1+1 redundancy |
| MX240 | 800 Gbps | 1.5 Tbps | 2× SCBE3-MX for 1+1 redundancy |
Software scale-up options
- S-MPC10E-15C-A1-5 Advanced 5-year term — 4M FIB, 2K VRFs, 32K L2VPN circuits, 1M MAC, 128K LSP, 8K queues
- S-MPC10E-15C-P1-5 Premium 5-year term — 8M+ FIB, 4K+ VRFs, 256K+ L2VPN circuits, 1M+ MAC, 256K+ LSP, 32K queues
Planning notes
- Confirm midplane revision before ordering — full 1.5 Tbps requires the enhanced midplane
- SCBE3-MX does not interoperate with SCB, SCBE, or SCBE2 boards; plan a clean cutover, not an in-place mix
- High-capacity power supplies and fan trays are prerequisites for the MPC10E-15C line card
- Confirm current specifications against Juniper’s official documentation and your account team before finalizing a BOM
